What e-liquids you have to avoid?

The e-liquid, contained in an electronic cigarette, allows the consumer to inhale a flavoured and hot vapour. Its composition greatly influences the quality of the suction and the experience with the e-cigarette. Since its ingredients also go straight to the lungs, it is important to choose an e-liquid that is not harmful to your health. Tour of the e-liquids to avoid.

E-liquids containing harmful products

To prevent the appearance of any pathology generated by chemicals, it is recommended to ban all e-liquids that contain:

Diacetyl: a chemical that is harmful and dangerous to health;

Paraben: a component considered to be an endocrine disruptor promoting the risk of cancer;

Diacetone, acetoin and acetyl propionyl: products used as additives. Note that acetoin is allergenic.

Also, it is imperative to avoid products containing pentanedione, furfural, cinnamaldehyde, ambrox, sugar, chemical additives, flavour enhancers and ionized ingredients.

When choosing your e-liquid, you must therefore be sure to read the ingredients on the label to avoid inhaling these dangerous products.

E-liquids not made by professionals

Since an e-liquid is intended to be vaped, it does not constitute any consumer product. Specifically, it is classified as a complex product. This implies that its manufacture must be reserved exclusively for experienced professionals, preferably those with training in chemistry and toxicology.

On the other hand, the regulations in force do not require that only professionals with this in-depth knowledge are the only ones who are authorized to manufacture e-liquid. Most vaping liquids on the market are therefore potentially dangerous to health and have not passed consumer tests.

It is, therefore, preferable to avoid unrecognized brand products that are not developed in the laboratory to prevent possible dangers during inhalation. When buying, the vaper must always be vigilant about the origin of the product.

E-liquids with misleading presentation

Vapers must always remain vigilant to the presentation of the product to be purchased. For information, there is a multitude of falsely organic and natural e-liquids which flood the market but contain a large number of chemicals.

What is a true natural e-liquid?

You should know that any e-liquid that presents the term natural or vegetable is not necessarily natural vaping liquid. For example, if the product has a natural base such as mono propylene glycol or vegetable glycerin, the flavours added to the formula may be artificial. It is therefore important to carefully scrutinize the ingredients that go into the composition so as not to be mistaken. The formulation must be 100% natural.

When can we say that an e-liquid is organic?

For organic e-liquids, the integration of one or more organic components is not enough to classify the product as organic. Indeed, an organic vaping liquid must have a formulation with 100% natural ingredients, of which at least 95% of the composition is organic.

On the aroma side, you should know that it is not possible to present 100% organic aromas, because these products are not intended for inhalation, therefore not used in vaping. This implies that offering a 100% organic e-liquid is therefore misleading or dangerous to health. In contrast, the safest flavours for vaping are vape-grade flavours.

What should an e-liquid consist of?

The essential ingredients in an e-liquid are propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin. These two elements create steam.

Propylene Glycol or PG contributes to the production of thin vapour for a tight vape. It allows for accentuating the aromas and generating the hit in the throat.

Vegetable glycerin or GV produces a vapour of a consequent volume. It allows to soften the aromas and ensures good restitution of the vapour.

To these two ingredients are often added food flavourings and nicotine. Namely that the aromas make it possible to flavour the vapour of the e-cigarette and to add flavour. Nicotine, on the other hand, is a non-mandatory, but crucial component to help a former smoker successfully quit smoking.
